Defending the constitution
There is such a thing as the Center for Constitutional Rights in the United States. Personnally it cheers me up to know that the oldest Constitution in the world and the civil liberties engraved in it are defended by an association. It also shows how sacred the Constitution is in the US, and how it's defense is at the heart of the struggle for civil liberties. I discovered this association because as a member of the French league for human rights (LDH) I received e-mails about the complaint filed by the CCR and the LDH (and other human rights associations) against former Defense Secretary Donald Rumself for acts of torture. Unfortunately the complaint was dismissed by a French court, which decided to grant immunity to Donald Rumsfeld. But it's always good to know we are not alone in our fight for democracy and civil liberties.
