A historic moment
What a night ! I stayed up all night to watch the last day of the democratic convention on TV from my flat in Paris, and even though I'm really exhausted I can't say I regret it. Watching Barack Obama delivering this momentous speech in Denver in front of more than 75,000 people was truly a sight to see. You could feel at the very beginning of his speech that Obama himself knew the burden that lay on his shoulders, that he knew he had to strike a home run in order to launch his campaign in the right direction, in a direction that is sorely expected not only by Americans, but by the rest of the world. Of course, his speech was first intended for the millions of Americans who will have to vote in November, and I think that Obama did a brilliant job at reminding America of the challenges it is facing and at giving voters a clear choice between what the McCain campaign stands for and what Obama's campaign stands for. Before this speech I was really concerned at Obama's lack of punch against McCain, but now I feel reassured because he has shown his ability at striking the Republicans where it hurts and at counter-attack all their arguments against him.
